 Bolshaya Lubyanka

Bolshaya Lubyanka (up to the middle of the 19th century it was a part of Sretenka Street, in 1926-1991 it was Dzerzhinskogo Street) goes from Lubyanskaya Square to Sretenskie Vorota Square.
The street was made on the way from Moscow to the Trinity Monastery of St.Sergius and the street was its beginning. In the 16th-17th centuries here (in Sretenka Street) lived merchants and craftsmen, in the 18th century here were built mansions for the elite. The 1812 Fire of Moscow did not affect the street. In the 19th century it became a trade street with many high stone modest buildings.
