 Krutitsy Metochion 


Krutitsy Patriarchal Metochion is a historical monument that was built in the 13th century. At first it was a convent and then a residence of bishops the Sarskis and the Podonskis. It is also a former branch of the State Historical Museum. The metochion is an architectural monument of the XVII century. It is is located in Taganka Moscow area. The title of the metochion comes from the word "Krutitsy" that referred to the ancient hill on the left bank of the Moskva River below the mouth of the Jauza River. Since 1991 it is the courtyard of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia where the youth department of the Russian Orthodox Church is located.
