 Vysokopetrovsky Monastery 


Vysokopetrovsky Monastery is an orthodox Monastery in Moscow. The monastery is known from written sources of the year 1377. The main part of the modern architectural complex of the monastery was built in the 17th - 18th centuries. In 1918 it was closed by the Bolsheviks. The activities of the monastery are resumed since 2009.
The main shrine of the monastery is the relics of St. Peter, Metropolitan of Kiev, Moscow and Wonderworker of All Russia that are buried in Peter Cathedral. Every morning at 7:00 a.m. in front of the relics of the saint a fraternal prayer is held. In Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh and St. Seraphim of Sarov are kept. At the Altar a part of the relics of Spyridon Trimifuntsky is kept.
In 2010 the governor of Kiev Pechersk Lavra handed to Vysokopetrovsky monastery the relics of the Kiev-Pechersk saints. The relics are displayed in Sergius Church.
