The Museum of Moscow is a complex founded in 1986 by State Duma as a museum of municipal services on the basis of materials owned by State Duma.
In 1920 it was renamed into Moscow municipal museum. Since 1940 it was called – the museum of the history and reconstruction of Moscow, in 1986 it got a name of the museum of history of Moscow.
In 2006 the museum got a complex of “proviant shops” by the decision of the government for the purpose of creating a museum complex of the 21st century. In 2008 the museum was granted a status of a museum complex and got its modern name – the museum complex “Museum of Moscow”/
Today the Museum of Moscow includes 5 different departments which are a museum of archeology, the museum “English courtyard”, “Museum of Russian harmonica named after A.Mirek”, Museum of history of Lefortovo, a museum of Russian manor culture “The Golitsyns` Vlakhernskoye-Kuzminki estate”.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday – 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday – 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday – 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Mondays and every last Friday of the month – days off
Ticker offices close thirty minutes before the exposition closes.
