Russian Literature museum is one of the largest museums of history of Russian literature in the country. It was founded in 1934 by the association of the central museum of fiction, criticism and journalism and museum of literature in library named after V.I.Lenin. Throughout years the museum became one of the largest archives of art treasures. The collections of the museum have archives of a number of writers of 18th-19th cc., engraving with sights of Moscow and St.Petersburg of 17th -18th cc., portraits, sketches of statesmen, manuscripts and first printed books, first books of Peter the Great`s century, rare books with autographs, pictures, sketches by writers, rare photographs.
