State Darwin Museum was founded on the 7th of October in 1907 by a young zoologist Alexander Fedorovich Kots. That time this was the only museum of evolution. Today State Darwin Museum is the largest museum of natural science in Europe.
The exposition tells us the history of the theory of evolution, tells us about biodiversity on the Earth, about variation and heredity, about natural selection and struggle for existence. A unique part of the exposition includes a collection of albinos and melanites, a collection of teeth of extinct sharks, rare books and a collection of animalistic artworks.
The halls of the museum are equipped with computers with Internet connection that enable visitors get detailed information about the expositions of State Darwin Museum and moreover about other large museums of natural science in Russia.

Everyday except Mondays, Thursdays and the last Friday of the month - 10 a.m. – 6p.m. (ticket offices close at 5.30 p.m.)
