Petrovian the en route imperial palace

Petrovian the en route imperial palace is situated on Leningrad avenue on the entrance point to Moscow from St.Petersburg. It is an example of Russian Gothic Revival.
The palace was built by order of Catherine the Great in 1776-1780 in honour of the successful ending of Russo-Turkish war (1768-1774) as a residence for prominent people to have rest after a long trip from St.Petersburg to Moscow. Behind the palace you can see a preserved part of Petrovsky park that was built at the beginning of the 19th century.
In 1797 Paul I, the son of Catherine the Great, stayed there before his coronation. After it became a tradition and Russian sovereigns stayed in the palace before coronation.
