First Moscow State Medical University is the oldest and by far largest leading medical university in Russia. It was founded in 1758. In 1955 it was renamed after an outstanding Russian physiologist - I.M. Sechenov.
The museum of the First Moscow State Medical University was founded in August in 1990. The first exposition was introduced to the public in December that year.
The museum is devoted to the history of the medical Department of Moscow State University (1758-1930), the First Moscow State Medical University (1930-1990) and Moscow Medical Academy named after I.M.Sechenov (since 1990 till today).
The exposition follows the development of Russian academic medical schools and the history of Russian Medical Higher Education.
