Central Armed Forces Museum is one of the largest military historical museums in the Russian Federation founded in 1919. The modern building was opened in 1965. The museum is under the authority of Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation.
More than a million of exhibits is kept in the museum. The exposition includes military and victory banners dating back to civil war and WWII, weapons, documents, awards and soldiers' personal belongings. The exposition displays 157 pieces of ordnance, armoured units, rocket, aviation and naval equipment, from weapons and tanks of the civil war period to strategical-tactical missiles, carrier rockets and units of anti aircraft defence.
